The main contract, awarded to United Group Ltd, was the contruction of a new glass bottle production line at Penrose.  Service Engineers Limited was sub-contracted by Kalmar Construction to supply, fabricate and erect all structural steel for the batch house. Fitzroy Project Services also sub-contracted Service Engineers to supply, fabricate and erect the silos and hoppers, as well as installation of all mechanical plant in the batch house.

The job included fabrication and erection of approximately 300 tonnes of structural steel, fabrication and installation of 9 large bulk storage silos, installation of client supplied batch house plant and equipment including conveyors, mixers at 16 tonnes each, vibratory feeders, gantry conveyors, lifting equipment, feeders and diverters.

This project required working within very confined site conditions within an operational plant as well as a very tight time frame for completion. Major hazards included height work, traffic management, broken glass and glass dust.
